When asked what they need the most help with, over 95% of students say they need the most help with speaking, and second on their list is listening.
Studies have been conducted; and it has been shown that when there is a breakdown in communication, over 85% of the time, the breakdown is due to incorrect pronunciation or lack of vocabulary. The breakdown is almost never due to grammar.
Stars of English has a program that helps students learn the first 1,500 most frequently used English words. It is a great way to improve pronunciation and vocabulary, thereby improving speaking and listening skills. A native teacher will make sure the student is learning to say the words correctly. These speaking classes can be taken on Skype in as short as 30 minute sessions.
Most people can function relatively well (at an upper-intermediate to advanced level) when they know the first 1,500 words in the English Language. Therefore, we award three certificates for student mastery of the words!

- First 1,000 English Words – Silver Mastery Certificate
- First 1,500 English Words – Gold Mastery Certificate
To receive a Mastery Certificate, students must say the words correctly and use them in correct sentences.
